Used bindery equipment inspection checklist
Cutters, folders, binders, and stitchers — the checks a bindery lead actually runs.

Identity and configuration
- Confirm model, year, and options (program, pile lift, gatefold, PUR, etc.).
- Record knife width or max sheet size; compare to the work you actually run.
- Photograph the serial plate and the control generation.
Run it
- Cutter: clamp pressure, backgauge repeatability, knife change, two-hand / IR safeties.
- Folder: register on a real sheet, roller condition, plate settings, delivery stack.
- Binder: clamp, mill, glue-pot temperature, cover feed, and a pulled book you can flex.
- Stitcher/trimmer: stitch placement, trim quality, and book-size changeover time.
Walk-away flags
- Defeated cutter safeties or a missing knife guard.
- Glue pot that will not hold temperature or a mill that will not cut a clean spine.
- No manuals and a control generation the local tech will not touch.
- A 'it ran last year' machine that cannot be put under power today.
